Andrea (Spain)
I grew up with a travelling mindset, almost an imposter approach to life. Our extended family didn’t live in the US so my childhood consisted of travelling to meet them around the world for different holidays. I was born in the US, but my parents weren’t. I speak Spanish fluently, and always had a bit of a different view on the world than my friends. I think this has everything to do with my later path.
I was living in Chicago when my best friend and I decided it was time to quit our jobs and travel. Maybe find jobs somewhere new, or volunteer, we really didn’t know. Before our journey, I took a month to get my Yoga Teacher Certification in Baja. Looking back, this month was a game changer for me, igniting a new chapter in my life: geographically, spiritually, mentally.
We started in Oaxaca and explored the south of Mexico and Central America for a couple months. We both ended up finding passion projects in Guatemala, and stayed… for the next two years! I met so many amazing people and experienced some of my highest highs and lowest lows, invaluable to my growth and development as a human.
I met Joel in Guatemala- we were on the boat taxi’s to get to our respective hostels when we convinced him that he should come with us. We spent that weekend hiking, swimming, and dancing! Who knew that we would be Colombia at the same time, two years later when we met again for more exploring.
Travelling to me is yes, an action. But it’s also a state of mind. You can travel, explore, and be open to new experiences and people wherever you are in the world - whether you have a backpack on your back or not.
My life, my mindset, my heart has changed so much since that month in the Baja desert and I wish that everyone can experience their own “travel” and freedom, however and whatever that might mean to them.
My name is Andrea, born and raised in the US with Spanish and Canadian parents.
I am now living between the US and Spain, working to support entrepreneurs around the world to start their businesses. I have also recently launched a passion project called The Tri Wellness (@the_tri_wellness), a community of like-minded individuals learning, sharing and growing in all things Wellness (Mind, Body, Soul) as an empowered collective.
